We would like to congratulate the Community Arts Council for the decision to move the Strawberry Jazz Festival to the Northfield Square mall.

Much as we like the old trees and the museum, Small House and Taylor Schoolhouse on the grounds of Small Memorial Park, we feel the festival has outgrown the space.

The fact the ground was so wet was a blessing in disguise -- it moved the festival to a much better location. Flat surfaces to walk on, covered space for arts and crafts displays, tons more parking, better space for the food vendors -- all positives for the move. It was wonderful to see the mall in use.

We thoroughly enjoyed the vendors (inside the mall and outside) and were amazed by the number of people from all over the area who visited during the afternoon. The weather cooperated and the business seemed to be pretty brisk. The food court was very busy and the tent with tables for dining was a great idea and put to great use. All in all, we found no negatives -- just a very positive experience.

Now we are wondering if someone will take the ball and run with it to plan a fall/Christmas event similar to this one and hold it at the mall also. There is time to plan...

Thank you, Community Arts Council, for a great event.

Richard and Jean Skelly
