William Palmateer obit

William F. “Bill” Palmateer, 76, of Bradley, passed away Tuesday (May 15, 2018) at his home.

He was born Aug. 1, 1941, in Kankakee, the son of Frederick and Dorothy Balegno Palmateer. Bill married Nancy Massey on April 28, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.

Bill retired from Armstrong World Industries on Aug. 1, 2001 after working there for many years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing and woodworking. Bill loved to go fishing and camping. He enjoyed playing cards with his card club and playing horseshoes.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Halsey Powell.

Bill was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.

Surviving are his wife, of Bradley; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Michael Partyka-Johnson, of Colorado, Christina Earley, of California, Jennifer and Ron Thornton, of Bradley, and Christine Rogers, of Bourbonnais; six grandchildren, Andrea, Brittni, Jordan, Tyler, Kody and Kory; two great-grandchildren, Athena and Alexis; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bruce and Melody Palmateer, of Chebanse, and Michael and Val Palmateer, of Manteno.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and one aunt, Lu.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, with the Rev. Michael Powell celebrating the Mass. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
