Raymond Peda

KANKAKEE — Raymond “Ray” Matthew Peda, 40, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2020, at home, surrounded by loved ones, in Kankakee.

He was born Oct. 8, 1979, in Valparaiso, Ind., the son of Raymond Michael and Linda (Ramos) Peda.

Ray graduated from Portage High School in 1998.

He married his soulmate, Amanda “Manda” (Sippel) Peda, on Oct. 7, 2017, at Willow Slough.

Ray lived his life without apology, regret or negativity. His passion for new experiences and positive vibes was infectious and made him a unifying spirit.

He was a master automotive technician whose work ethic was borne of personal pride instead of necessity. Despite this drive, his ideal day would be in a kayak on a slow-moving river, surrounded by his girls and his dogs.

Ray loved big, with no artifice, ego or condition. A handshake, smile and “heart hug” were waiting for anyone who would have them. Not even literal rain on his wedding day could dampen his spirit.

He loved cars, animals, food, dancing, music and good conversation, but most of all he loved good company.

Surviving are his wife, Manda; daughters, Skye, Sadie and Miranda; son, Raymond Jude; parents, Ray and Linda; sisters, Allison and Melanie (Karmel); aunt, Christine Peda; uncle, Emilio (Athie) Ramos; in-laws, Kevin and Bonnie (Atwood) Sippel; sisters-in-law, Andrea (Eric) Galloway and Allison (Randy) Lovrant; nieces, Madeline, Marisol, Harlee and Reagan; nephew, Wyatt; and many cousins, as well as friends who were like family to him.

Family, friends and anyone whose lives were touched by Ray’s positivity and joy are invited to share in a celebration of his life which the family will be hosting with details to follow.
