Margie Owen, 88, of Kankakee, passed away Monday (Feb. 11, 2019) at Miller Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Kankakee.

She married Harold Owen on March 21, 1953. He preceded her in death in 2014.

Margie was a clerk at Roper Corporation for 25 years. After her employment at Roper, she and her husband, Harold, owned and operated two laundromats in the Kankakee area.

She enjoyed gardening, “I Love Lucy” and animals – especially her pets throughout the years. Margie also loved photography and taking photos at family events.

Surviving are one son, Rickey Jarka, of Wilmington; two daughters, Leila Owen, of Kankakee, and Rena (Michael) Gooding, of San Jose, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Bottari, of Kankakee; four grandchildren, Amanda (Doug) Evans, of California, Tom (Jenny) Gooding, of Minnesota, and Jennifer Sims and Joseph Sims, both of Indiana; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Freida Mattis; and her brother, Howard Bottari.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Bourbonnais Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Aroma Township.
