James L Miller Jr., 66, of Kankakee, passed away Wednesday (June 26, 2019) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

He was born April 23, 1953, in Harvey, the son of James L. Miller Sr. and Betty D. (Kiedaisch) Stuenkel. James married Jill Bain on Jan. 29, 1994, in Bourbonnais.

James was the golf course supervisor at Bon Vivant Country Club in Bourbonnais, nursery manager at Tholens’ Landscape and Garden Center and grounds maintenance supervisor at Riverside Medical Center, from which he retired. He enjoyed golf, loved the outdoors, getting his hands dirty and said nothing was better than good clean dirt.

Surviving are his wife, Jill; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy (Airian) Miller, of Naperville; daughters and sons-in law, Carrie (Mike) Johnson, of Bourbonnais, and Jina (Shawn) Killian, of Fishers, Ind.; sister, Joy Miller, of Beecher; and grandchildren, Ashley Miller, Dylan and Kacie Johnson, and Preston Killian.

Preceding him in death were his father; stepfather, Norm Stuenkel; and mother-in-law, Eva Bain.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019, until the noon funeral service at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel.
