George “Johnny” Kotalik, 72, passed away June 17, 2019, at Amita Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, following an extended illness.

Born in Chicago, on May 15, 1947, the son of George Kotalik and Mildred Kotalik Pierce, he grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago and spent five years on the board of trade before he eventually settled into Kankakee County.

An avid golfer, he joined the Kankakee Country Club in 1986, where he became a nine-time Club Champion. He was a distinguished Kankakee County Amateur Champion, holding an impressive three consecutive titles in 1990, 1991 and 1992.

In 1988, he opened the doors to Johnny’s Pizza, which quickly became a local favorite known for its Old World Italian beef and Chicago style deep-dish pizza!

Surviving are a son, Michael Kotalik; daughter, Carrie Kotalik; grandchildren, Nicholas Kotalik, Isabella Kotalik and Talon Sorce; and longtime companion, Terri McKinney.

A Celebration of Life Service welcoming friends and family, will be held at Kankakee Country Club, 2011 Cobb Boulevard, Kankakee, IL 60901, on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at three-thirty, in the afternoon.
