Bruce “Catfish” R. Beland Sr., 71, of Bourbonnais, passed away Thursday (July 4, 2019) at his home.

He was born Oct. 23, 1947, in Kankakee to Robert and Geneva (Oulette) Beland Sr. He married Delicca Spencer on Nov. 6, 1992.

Bruce was a machine operator at Loders Croklaan. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, was a family jokester, avid bowler and enjoyed all sports.

Bruce is survived by his wife; Delicca, of Bourbonnais; one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Jr. and Star Beland, of Stewart, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and John Ahlquist, of Bourbonnais; sister, Susan Kanta, of Rapid City, S.D.; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Murphy Beland, of Oahu, Hawaii, and Robert Jr. and Donna Beland, of Bradley; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Brad and Barry Beland.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

There will be a celebration of life gathering from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, July 6, at Tri-Star Clubhouse in Bourbonnais.
