A crash between a semitractor- trailer and Jeep Patriot on Illinois Route 115 resulted in three people being taken to Riverside Medical Center with minor injuries on Monday.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Illinois Route 115 and Lehigh Road (7000W Road) at 1:32 p.m., according to Illinois State Police District 21.
A preliminary investigation indicated the 2019 Mack Truck was stopped in the eastbound lane of Route 115 waiting to turn left onto Lehigh Road. The Jeep was traveling westbound on Route 115 at the same time.
The front end of the semi crossed the center of the intersection and into the path of the Jeep, causing the Jeep to hit the front end of the semi.
The driver of the Jeep and one passenger are from Kankakee. The other passenger is from Tennessee.
The driver of the semi, from Romeoville, was issued a ticket for failure to yield at an intersection.
On Aug. 2, a 24-year-old Herscher man was seriously injured at the same intersection.
His van was eastbound on Illinois 115 when it was hit by a semi traveling southbound on Lehigh that failed to stop at the stop sign.
The semi driver was issued a ticket by state police for failure to yield at a stopped intersection.
Lehigh Road continues into Iroquois County as 700E Road.
On Aug. 22, Mason Knorr, 24, of rural Clifton, died when his pickup truck traveling westbound of Clifton Slab (2950N Road) was involved in a crash with a semi traveling northbound on Lehigh.
Clifton Slab has the right of way. Lehigh Road has a posted stop sign.
The Iroquois County Sheriff’s police continue to investigate the accident.
