CLIFTON — Mason Knorr, of rural Clifton, died from injuries he sustained when his pickup truck collided with a semitractor-trailer in Iroquois County Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old Knorr was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Coroner Bill Cheatum. An autopsy was performed Thursday.

Knorr was a graduate of Central High School.

The driver of the semi was transported to Riverside Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Clifton Slab (2950N Road) and Lehigh Road (700E Road), Cheatum said.

According to the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police, Knorr’s vehicle was westbound on Clifton Slab, which has the right of way. The semi was traveling northbound on Lehigh Road, which has a posted stop sign.

The crash caused both vehicles to enter a ditch on the northwest corner of the intersection.

Police and fire/rescue personnel were dispatched at 11:26 p.m.

The crash still is under investigation and more information will be released at a later time.
