Were you looking for a career on the big screen?
Well, this might not be the break you were looking for, but a Chicago-based movie company will be filming a scene in Kankakee Feb. 6, for a film called "Mind Over Mindy." And there's a casting call for 50 extras, between the ages of 17 and 21.
Working through Kankakee Valley Park District Director Roy Collins, the crew will be at the Civic Auditorium, 803 S. Eighth Ave., starting at 8 a.m. According to Collins the video shot here will be used at the end of the movie, during the credits. It also will be released on DVD, to help promote the movie.
The studio requested that prospective extras show up, dressed in 1980s style clothes and hairdos. It was suggested they consult the website liketotally80s.com to confirm the look of the era. Other advance notices include: No cellphones on the set; refreshments will be served, but participants might want to bring a sack lunch; and taping is expected to wrap up about 1 p.m.
The scenes will be accompanied by the song "Oh, Mindy", performed by the Aaron Williams Band. The video will feature the Williams Band performing while actors, Steve Parks and Catherine McCafferty act out dream sequence within the video.
According to the film's website, the plot involves a middle-aged man's troubled relationship with his fiancee. The circumstances become more confused when his teenage ex-girlfriend from the '80s materializes from out of his dreams and into the 21st century.
Extras should be comfortable with dancing and following directions.
