BOURBONNAIS — Ronald V. Smith Jr., 58, of Bourbonnais, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and felon possessing a weapon after he shot a man during an argument on May 12 in unincorporated Bourbonnais.
According to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Department, deputies were dispatched to Cherry Drive in Tri-Star Estates for a domestic disturbance. While en route, police were told there were reports of shots fired.
They were alerted by another dispatch that a person was lying in a driveway.
Upon arrival, deputies stopped a vehicle driven by a women with a male passenger who had suffered three gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital.
As of Friday, he remained hospitalized.
A judge set Smith's bond at $750,000.
