Michael Cobbs, of Champaign, is facing a preliminary charge of armed robbery of the BrickStone Brewery and Restaurant on Monday.

The 32-year-old Cobbs is facing more charges, Bourbonnais Chief Jim Phelps said.

Cobbs had previously lived in Kankakee, Phelps said.

Phelps said at this time it does not appear there was anyone else involved.

Police responded to a 911 call at 7:54 a.m.

An employee coming in to work shift walked in on the robbery.

Cobbs fled on foot, leaving a handgun behind.

Police found four employees bound and gagged. One employee was knocked unconscious. That person was treated and released at a local hospital, according to Phelps.

Cobbs was found hiding in a dumpster in the 300 block of Heritage Drive approximately an hour after he fled.

All Bourbonnais Elementary School District schools were put on lock down for about 20 minutes as officers from several local agencies searched the area.

Please know that only public elementary schools were notified. Two of the private local schools were never contacted by Kancom.
