BOURBONNAIS — Brice A. Mixon, of Bradley, was arrested by Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group agents after they recovered 32.96 pounds of suspected cannabis and cannabis edibles on Monday.

During a search of a home in the 500 block of Stockton Heights Drive in Bourbonnais, agents recovered 15.59 pounds of cannabis and 17.37 pounds of cannabis edibles.

At $300 per ounce, KAMEG Director Christopher Koerner told the Daily Journal the street value of the haul was worth $150,000.

Prosecutor Ed Pentuic said agents recovered receipts from transactions, more than $2,800 in cash, a bulletproof vest and .45 caliber ammunition.

The 20-year-old Mixon was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver over 5,000 grams and possession of ammunition by a felon. Judge Kathy Bradshaw-Elliott set bail at $200,000.

Pentuic said they will file a motion for hearing for source of bail money. This is done to make sure the money comes from legal sources.

According to Kankakee County court online records, Mixon is currently on probation after he pleaded guilty to a 2017 case for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

A petition to revoke Mixon’s probation in that case had already been filed because he was charged with felony aggravated fleeing and eluding in Will County in January. That is still an open case.

This is the second arrest made this week of a person in possession to cannabis edibles, which are food products infused with cannabis.

On Sunday, Wilmington police arrested Gregory J. Thompson, of Matteson, after 2 1/2 pounds of edibles was discovered in his vehicle during a traffic stop for speeding.

The Will County State’s Attorney’s office charged Thompson with felony possession of cannabis between 500 and 2,000 grams. A judge set his bond at $7,500.
