Kankakee police arrested a juvenile student at Kankakee Junior High School after the student punched a teacher in the face on May 10. According to a report, at 2:47 p.m. the teacher was attempting to break up a fight between two students when one of them punched her in the eye. The student was taken to police station and later released to her mother.
Kankakee police arrested Michael L. Christmas, 43, of Kankakee, for possession of controlled substance on May 13. Members of the department’s Gang Enforcement Tactical Unit were conducting a drug investigation in the area of the 1000 block of West Park Drive. According to a prosecutor, a confidential information is alleged to have bought crack cocaine from Christmas. A judge set Christmas’ bond at $150,000.
Iroquois County Sheriff’s police arrested Michael Hoekstra, 21, of Sheldon, for driving under the influence of alcohol on May 13. He was taken to the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and was released.
Kankakee police arrested a male juvenile student at Kankakee Junior High School for resisting an officer who was working as the resource officer on May 10. According to a report, at approximately 12:16 p.m., the officer was encouraging two students to move along when they heard a third student say something. The officer asked the student to go to class. The student refused and the officer told the student he was under arrest. The officer and security staff were able to get the student handcuffed. The student was taken to Kankakee police station and turned over to juvenile probation.
Bradley police arrested Michael T. Simmons, 45, of Bourbonnais, for possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated assault and violating an order of protection on May 12. According to a prosecutor, Simmons is alleged to have pointed a gun and threatened a woman while in the 1200 block of Winans Avenue. A loaded was recovered from his vehicle during a search. A judge set Simmons’ bond at $100,000.
