Battery

Kankakee police arrested Jovita R. Williamson, 32, of Kankakee, for aggravated battery to a child and domestic battery July 1. According to a report, officers were called to a house in the 300 block of North Harrison Avenue for a domestic dispute. A witness said a young child was hit with a belt for being outside when she was supposed to be inside with other siblings. Department of Children and Family Services was contacted. A judge set Williamson’s bond at $25,000.

Drugs

Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group arrested Lakenzie T. Mallett, 21, of Kankakee, for delivery of a controlled substance July 1. According to a prosecutor, Mallett was arrested on a warrant for delivering crack cocaine to a confidential source May 8. A judge set Mallett’s bail at $100,000.

DUI

Momence police arrested Jason L. Scheidell, 45, for driving under the influence of alcohol July 1. According to a prosecutor, an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The officer determined the driver, Scheidell, to be alcohol impaired. A judge released Scheidell on a $3,000 recognizance bond.

Robbery

Kankakee police investigated an armed robbery of a man in the 500 block of North Cottage Avenue at about 12:49 a.m. June 30. According to a report, the victim said he was sitting on his front porch talking on his cellphone. He said two black subjects approached him holding silver hand guns. They took his wallet out of his pocket and took an undetermined amount of cash. The suspects fled on foot.

Kankakee police investigated a report of a man robbed at gunpoint by two men of money and his cellphone as he was walking on Bourbonnais Street at about 6:23 a.m. June 29. The suspects fled on foot. The suspects matched a description to a similar armed robbery that occurred in Bourbonnais at about 5:22 a.m.

A man reported to Kankakee police two men robbed him of cash as he was standing in the alley of the 400 block of South Chicago Avenue at about 2:36 p.m. June 29. The two suspects fled on foot.

Shots fired

Kankakee police investigated a report of shots fired in the 700 block of Webster Circle West at about 12:13 a.m. July 2. According to a report, a witness said a man fired several rounds into the air. Officers found seven empty .45 caliber shell casings in a driveway.

Kankakee police investigated a report of shots fired in the area of the 700 block of North Cottage Avenue at about 3:18 a.m. July 1. According to a report, officers located 13 .40 caliber shell casings at the intersection of North Park Avenue and East Birch Street.

Kankakee police investigated a report of shots fired in the area of 400 South Osborn Avenue at about 3:56 a.m. July 1. According to a report, ammunition casings were found in the east alley of the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue.

Kankakee police investigated a report of shots fired in the area of East Bourbonnais Street and South Harrison Avenue at about 6:59 p.m. June 28. According to a report, a witness said a passenger in a vehicle opened fire on a subject standing at the southeast corner of East Bourbonnais and South Harrison. The witness said the subject returned fire. All suspects fled before police arrived. Investigators recovered six spent shell casings, one live round and one bullet projectile. A house also was hit by gun fire.

A home in the 700 block of North Indiana Avenue was hit by gunfire at about 9:11 p.m. June 27. According to Kankakee police, a woman said someone had fired two shots into her house. Both struck the south side of the house. A bullet fragment was removed from the ceiling in a bedroom.

Kankakee police investigated an incident in the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue in which an issue about a bicycle led a man to fire a shot into the ground. No one was hurt, and the two men involved had left before police arrived.

Stolen vehicle

Bradley police arrested Alberto M. Moreno, 18, of Kankakee, for possession of a stolen vehicle and burglary to a motor vehicle June 26. According to a prosecutor, the alleged incident occurred June 6. Moreno and two other men rummaged through multiple unlocked cars. They had a police scanner with them and stole the car when they heard police dispatched to the area where they were, the 100 block of South Cleveland Avenue. A judge set Moreno’s bond at $20,000.

Weapons

Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group arrested Dejour Turner-Owens, 20, of Pembroke Township, for possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and resisting a peace officer July 2. According to a prosecutor, Turner-Owens was a passenger in a vehicle stopped June 25. He fled but dropped a bag in which a loaded .45 caliber handgun was found. A judge set his bond at $75,000.
