A number of virtual events are available this weekend to improve your mind and body.

As we settle into a new year, we look forward to what’s ahead. We’re also looking forward to what we can do to self-improve in all facets, including our bodies and our minds. This weekend, there are a few local and virtual events that will help assist with that self-improvement.

Top Fuel Food Pantry

From 4 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Top Fuel Saloon in Braidwood will be hosting a food pantry that is open to the public. In collaboration with Ignite Christian Church, the food pantry requires no sign up and no residency checks. This is part of a coalition of organizations helping feed people in the southland area. AMITA Birthing Classes

AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale will be hosting virtual birthing classes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. They have a number of virtual classes and events available from their birthing center. From breastfeeding to Baby Care 101, Natural Childbirth to HypnoBirthing, learn from experts at AMITA. New Year, New You Psychic Fair

Join Top Notch Knots and Pots from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday for a “New Year, New You Psychic Fair.” Fifty percent of all funds raised will be donated to Iroquois County Animal Rescue and One Eyed Willy’s Rescue. Prices are: $30 for a 30-minute card reading and $20 for a 15-minute crystal healing session. Reservations can be made on the event’s Facebook page, which can be found by searching “New Year, New You Psychic Fair.” Top Notch Knots and Pots is located at 1260 Larry Power Road, Bourbonnais.

Community Meditation

Join Bourbonnais’ Sacred Healing Journey for the first virtual meditation of the new year, where participants will explore the nuances of listening deeply along with the mantra, “Begin again.” The class will meet via Zoom from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, and a link will be emailed to registrants the day prior to the event. Silent Meditation offered at 8 a.m. with Guided Meditation beginning at 8:30 a.m. The cost of the event is $20.
