Appreciation for Mary Jackson

Church to present anniversary services

Community Church of Holiness presents its fourth year pastoral anniversary services this weekend, honoring Pastor Margaret Crayton and Co-Pastor David Crayton. The events are:

  • 7:30 p.m. today — Speaker: Apostle Chaun Johnson, of Chicago.
  • 7:30 p.m. Friday — Speaker: Pastor May Ragland, of Champaign.
  • 11 a.m. Sunday — Speaker: Apostle Otha Ree Burtis, of Kankakee; and 4:30 p.m. Sunday — Speaker: Pastor Helen Hardin, of Indianapolis.

All services will be held at Community Church of Holiness, 481 N. Harrison Ave., Kankakee. Everyone is invited. For more information, call 815-935-2924.

Risen Savior to host Oktoberfest

The annual Oktoberfest and Silent Auction for Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Manteno will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday.

All-you-can-eat brats and hot dogs will be served. The cost for the meal is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Children 3 and younger are free. Many baskets will also be up for silent auction.

Asbury UMC sells bread pudding

Asbury United Methodist Church’s Chancel Choir is selling frozen portions of its signature bread pudding. To order, send a check (payable to Asbury Chancel Choir) to Mary Birr, 12 Richard St., Kankakee, IL 60901.

Orders must be placed by Sunday. Prices are $3 per piece, $10 for quarter pan (serves four), $20 for half pan (serves eight) and $40 for full pan (serves 12-16).

Orders can be picked up at noon Dec. 9 at the church, 196 S. Harrison, Kankakee, or the same day at 5 p.m., following the choir’s Joy of Christmas holiday concert which starts at 4 p.m.
