St. Patrick in Wilton Center announces Woman of the Year

St. Patrick Catholic Church of Wilton Center recently announced its Woman of the Year is Sue Bell. Father Sebastian Gargol honored Bell during Mass on May 5 and presented her with her certificate, pin and a bouquet of flowers.

KCUUNA to meet Saturday in Kankakee

Kankakee County United Ushers and Nurses’ Alliance will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 487 N. Fairmont Ave. in Kankakee.

Aroma Park UMC to host farmers market

Aroma Park United Methodist Church farmers market kicks off from 3:30 to 7 p.m. today and will be held every Thursday. There will be booths of produce, crafters and home business. Stop by to shop and stay for supper in the Fellowship Hall. Changing menus from week to week. This week, hamburgers, brats and hot dogs will be served along with two sides and a beverage. Cost is $8 for adults and $3 for children

St. Paul’s to host rummage sale

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church spring rummage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Friday at the church at 348 E. Merchant St. in Kankakee. Use the alley entrance. Proceeds benefit the Tabea Society.

New Vision MBC to hold usher program

Zion Lutheran to hold garage sale

Zion Lutheran Church will hold a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 1 and June 6-7 in the parish hall at 540 Oak Park Ave. in Beecher.

Lunch will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a choice of barbecue sandwich or a hot dog, with chips and a dessert, including coffee or lemonade, for $3.

Zion Lutheran Church to celebrate pastor’s retirement

The public is invited to a potluck dinner June 2 to celebrate the retirement of the Rev. John Kiefer as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church.

Kiefer is retiring after 27 years as pastor. He was installed April 12, 1992.

The potluck dinner will follow the 10 a.m. services. Bring a dish to share. Table service and a drink will be furnished.

Zion Lutheran Church is located on Illinois Route 17, just east of Herscher Road.

Ford Iroquois Deanery to hold spring institute

The Ford Iroquois Deanery Council of Catholic Women Spring Institute will be held June 6 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 407 W. Pells St. in Paxton. The morning will begin with at 9 a.m. Mass in the church.

The theme of the day is “Women Wear Many Hats”. The program will be presented by Jenny Washburn on “The History of Hats Through Music.” Women are invited to join the fun and wear their favorite hat. Lunch will be served by St. Mary’s CCW Ladies at 11:30 a.m. Our project of “Dress a Girl Around the World” continues. Completed dresses will be collected that day, and packets to sew over the summer will be available.

All women of the Ford Iroquois Deanery are invited to attend.
