St. Germaine named Woman of the Year
Sacred Heart Church in Goodrich recently announced Shirley St. Germaine as the Council of Catholic Women’s 2019 Woman of the Year.
Germaine is a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart, where she was a devoted religious education teacher for 23 years. She has been involved in many activities within the parish throughout the years.
She will be honored at a Mass celebrated by the Rev. John Sebehar, spiritual adviser for the Joliet Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Parish CCW President Terri Weakley will accompany her, along with all the Women of the Year and parish presidents from throughout the Diocese of Joliet.
Pembroke to honor Rev. Lake’s service
The Pembroke Fellowship Church will honor the Rev. Rodney Lake for his 10 years of pastoral leadership from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday with a bowling outing at Brookmont Bowling Center.
The price is $16 per person. There also will be a celebration service at 11 a.m. April 28. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Tyler Prude, of Second Baptist Church in Kankakee, and the 4 p.m. guest speaker will be the Rev. Marvin Wiley, from Rock of Ages Baptist Church of Maywood.
Central Christian announces services
Central Christian Church at 310 Main St. N.W. in Bourbonnais will hold the following services this week:
- Maundy Thursday at 6:30 p.m. today, shared meal and drama.
- Good Friday services at noon and 7 p.m. Friday.
- Easter brunch, 9 a.m.; worship and communion “From Sorrow to Joy” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Nursery is available.
