‘Sign ‘O’ The Times’

Released: March 30, 1987

Label: Paisley Park Records

Even after eight studio albums, there was no slowing Prince Rogers Nelson down. He proved that he was still a critically-acclaimed, multifaceted and multi-instrumentalist with a ninth album, “Sign ‘O’ The Times.”

Originally released as a double album with 16 tracks, Prince had something on the album for everyone. “Housequake” and “It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night” for the party people, “Adore” for the romantics and the title track for those who knew the state of the nation as it was.

The album spawned four hit singles, although almost every single song can be considered a hit in it’s own right.

KEY CUTS: “If I Was Your Girlfriend,” “The Cross”
