In addition to Beer Under Glass, there are many events going on during Illinois Craft Beer Week that kicked off Friday. Every place around Chicagoland offers up some of their best events all year during this week.

I have reached out to some local places to see if they are doing anything to take part in the festivities. Check the website to see the list, which is updated frequently: illinoisbeer.org/icbw/#icbw-events-section

Today: Battle of the Brewery, Goose Island Barrel Warehouse, 3 to 8 p.m., 603 N. Sacramento Blvd., Chicago. Cost is $25, which is a charitable donation given to the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild.

This is one of the best events in Chicago all year. Come out and cheer on your hometown brewers as they battle through a single elimination tournament of dodgeball for The Cup and bragging rights for the rest of the year as to who are the best dodgeballers in all of Chicago craft beer. Goose Island usually rolls out some of the best rare beers for this event such as 2015 BCS Rare among others.

Sunday: The Mother of All Skeeball Tournaments, Begyle Brewing, 1800 W. Cuyler Ave., Chicago. The SKEE League: Chicago is hosting a Skeeball tournament at Begyle Brewing with three divisions: mothers, beginners and advanced, in three rounds, with nine balls per person. The highest score wins “fantastic prizes.” This is a unique way to celebrate your mom on Mother’s Day, that’s for sure.

Wednesday: A Battle of the Bizarre Brews, hosted by Atlas Obscura, 7 to 9 p.m., Firehouse Grill, 750 Chicago Ave., Evanston. Four breweries (Sketchbook, Temperance, Twisted Hippo and Empirical) battle for the crown of most bizarre beer. Last year, Temperance won gold. There are four beers through a five-course meal, and it is hosted by Kirby Barth, of Atlas Obscura. For more ticket information, email kirby@atlasobscura.org.

Friday: ICBW Closing Shindig with Werk Force and Friends, 5 to 10 p.m., Werk Force Brewing, 14903 S. Center St. No. 101, Plainfield. Join Werk Force and Friends as they close out Illinois Craft Beer Week with a shindig like you’ve never seen.

The Roaming Hog food truck will be onsite from 5 to 9 p.m. Scat Grub Band will play live music from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. More than 30 beers will be on tap. Guest taps will be plentiful, including: Alter, Flesk, Metal Monkey, Skeleton Key, Alarmist, Penrose, Illuminated Brew Works, Blue Island, Hopvine, Hailstorm, Phase Three and Brickstone.

Friday: Deth Rattle at Revolution Brewing Taproom, 3340 N. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, 4 p.m. Celebrate the final moments of Illinois Craft Beer Week 2019 with our Deth mini-tap takeover and library sale. We’ll have nine different vintage Deth variants on draft, as well as some special beers for sale you won’t find anywhere else.
