22 miles for veterans
Army veteran Nic Smith, 40, of Clifton, walks along South Schuyler Avenue on Monday during his 22-mile journey as part of the StopSoldierSuicide.org campaign going on this month to raise awareness and funds to support veteran suicide prevention. Walk the walk
Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe, center, embarks on the Clove Alliance’s 14th annual “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” fundraiser event in downtown Kankakee on Friday along with about 75 fellow participants. Many donned women’s shoes as they departed from the Kankakee Valley Park District RecCenter for the event as a symbol of solidarity in the effort to raise awareness of violence against women.
