Members of the Kankakee High School Green Team return from picking up trash along the Kankakee River near Bird Park on Saturday during the Northern Illinois Anglers Association’s 37th annual Kankakee River Clean Up. “The Kankakee River is such a beautiful and important resource that we are so fortunate to live along. It is essential to help keep it as pollution-free as possible,” a post on the KHS Green Team Facebook page said. “After this experience, Green Team members are now wanting to do monthly clean ups!”

Vendors tents lie toppled late Friday night after a strong storm canceled Manteno Oktoberfest. About 12 hours after this photo was taken, the festival was back up and running.
