Who said government is not on your side?

Manteno resident Steve Kolesar might beg to differ after his recent experience.

In May, Kolesar attended a Manteno Village Board meeting to complain about his difficulty in getting Comcast to install cable TV at his home.

Manteno Mayor Tim Nugent was unsure why Kolesar was being denied, and called Comcast the next day to inquire about it.

Now, Comcast is solving the problem by hooking up the cable.

Nugent made the announcement at Monday’s village board meeting, and Kolesar later confirmed the installation is being made in a very polite manner.

Two important steps were taken here. First, rather than simply complain, Kolesar attended a meeting to voice his concerns. Secondly, his concerns did not fall on deaf ears. An elected official looked into the problem and corrected it.

We also should point out that the Daily Journal covered the meeting and reported on Koselar’s plight. The Fourth Estate plays an important role, too.
