The River Valley Wind & String Ensembles will perform an exciting Fall Music Concert on Sunday, October 20, 2019. The program begins at 3:00 pm. The ensembles are honored to perform at the newly renovated Kankakee High School Auditorium at 1200 West Jeffery Street in Kankakee. Admission is free.
This one-hour concert features popular movie music and classic standards. The music will be enjoyed by friends and families of all-ages! The program will include:

Of special note, the River Valley String Ensemble will premiere a new arrangement of Autumn Leaves written by Katrina Cessna, a music teacher at Herscher High School and music director of the Kankakee Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra. Autumn Leaves features local saxophone soloist, Lori Buckman, known to local audiences from her performances with the classic rock band, Just Roll With It.

The River Valley String Ensemble is the region’s newest concert ensemble. Founded in 2019, the ensemble features a traditional string instrumentation of violins, violas, cellos, double basses and piano. The River Valley Wind Ensemble begins their 16th season of music performances. Both groups perform in the Kankakee County area for the enjoyment and enrichment of both its performers and their audiences. Musicians include music teachers, college students, and other highly skilled musicians. Through their concerts and school outreach events, both groups strive to broaden the scope and community interest in music and music education.
Both ensembles are projects of the River Valley Music Corporation, an Illinois not-for-profit corporation. Donations are tax deductible under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
