"I met Bear at the Moonlight Skating Place in Bradley.

Bear asked me to skate with him. I really wanted to, but didn't have the courage. He grabbed a pencil I had behind my ear. The only way he'd give it back is if I'd skate with him. I finalyy decided to skate the last skate with him. I neede that pencil for school the next day.

After going together for two-and-a-half years, we got married (June 12, 1955 at First Baptist Church, Kankakee). We've been married for 47 and a half years."
