Dolly Parton proved to be a good mentor and good theme for last night’s American Idol.

No one really smacked a home run but there were plenty of doubles and triples.

Michael was the winner of the night but Carly, David C. and David A. were also quite good.

We’ll rank them this way this week:

1) Michael

2) Carly

3) David C.

4) David A.

5) Syesha

6) Brooke

7) Jason

8) Kristy Lee

9) Ramiele

Who should go: Kristy Lee has almost always been the one that should go but the last two weeks, she has been bearable. Ramiele has been consistently just average, so she should be the one to go.

Who will go: David H., Amanda, Chikezie — Boy, girl, boy … Seems like we have a pattern here.

The bottom three have had some surprises in the past few weeks (Carly, Syesha and Jason) so there’s no reason to think that something surprising won’t happen.

I expect Ramiele, Syesha and Jason to be the bottom three (Kristy seems to be gaining steam) and in an upset, Syesha will be voted off, keeping the pattern.

Comments

Aww nooo I really like Syesha and think she could really make the top 4 or 5, she just needs a bigger fan base. I really wish Ramiele would get the boot, but because of her fanbase she probaby wont…even though Kristy did okay, she isn’t as good overall. She had her country night, she can go now, lol. Hopefully the people who voted for Chi will split between Syesha and Jason!

Michael was honestly the only one I really liked. I’d buy that single in a heart beat. Ramiele was baaaad. I don’t like Kristy. Syesha was boring. (Dude, have you SEEN American Idol? You do not do Whitney Houston. Period. I don’t care if Dolly wrote the song — Whitney’s version is the famous one.) I’d be very happy with those ladies in the bottom three, but methinks a guy will prolly have to fit in there.

Michael was awesome! Even if he sucks I’ll still like him because he’s my Heath Ledger replacement. It was too bad the show ran over and they cut everything so short for him. He should have gotten a lot more praise for that song!

I’m not into American Idol, but I ran across this rather amusing tidbit on Jill Sobule’s blog on her website. (Sobule is an artist currently recording an album using monies collected from fans all over the world.)

“There was a lot of activity going on at Henson’s that day. I wondered what all of the scurrying was about. Well, Dolly Parton was there with… the American Idol contestants. Now, I am happy to admit that I have never seen an American Idol show – not even once. So when I walked the highly security guarded hallway, to use the bathroom (or really see what the fuss was about), a nice cute fellow with an Australian accent came up to me and said he once saw a show of mine in Atlanta and was a fan. I asked him if he wanted to come to Studio B (where we were). He was about to follow me, when this big mean security man told him that he wasn’t allowed to leave his eyesight – it was the same man who told me to put away my camera. It turns out that Australian was, I guess, one of the big Idol favorites …and a prisoner.”

So there you have it. The ‘nice cute fellow with the Australian accent’ was denied the chance to hang out with a “professional.”
