I was a huge super heroes fan as a kid. I had tons of action figures, read comic books and raced home after school to watch the campy Batman show and the Spider-Man cartoon. Nerdy, yes, I know.
Super heroes have been launched into popularity once again. Spider-Man 3 and Fantastic 4 were big at the box office this summer and Heroes is among the most popular TV SHOWS.
Growing up, I always wanted super powers, just like every other kid. While Spider-Man was my favorite hero, I envisioned myself more with Superman-type skills, especially as a teenager, when the power of x-ray vision would have been a godsend.
Green Day pulls off a surprise, at least in my eyes, defeating Guns N’ Roses to win the G title.
Not surprisingly, Jimi Hendrix wins the H while Hootie and the Blowfish take second place.

My twins’ birthday was Saturday, but the rigors of work didn’t allow me to be off on Saturday, so we had their birthday party on Sunday.
No big party this year, just their cousins (5 kids) and a few neighborhood kids. We let them invite two friends each from school, so it was a very manageable number of little punks running around. They were all well behaved, in case any moms are reading.
We rent one of those big bounce houses from friends of ours, and all of the kids seem to have a blast with it. With the heat on Sunday, they’d bounced for five or 10 minutes, then get out and drink water. We run the party for two hours, which seems to be a good amount of time to bounce.
