CHICAGO (AP) — Wealthy concrete company owner Marty Ozinga says he isn’t interested in spending lots of his own money to win a seat in Congress.

The Republican hopeful says he doesn’t believe in being a self-funder. He says he’s counting on robust financial support from the community to fuel his bid to replace exiting Congressman Jerry Weller.

Ozinga has emerged as the top choice of local Republicans who plan to meet Wednesday to pick a candidate for the November ballot. The GOP primary winner dropped out.

Harry Bond, of Bourbonnais , president of Monical's Pizza, has also expressed interest in running.
