CHICAGO (AP) -- A chartered plane streaked across the skies between New York and Chicago when, as admitted political fixer Stuart Levine tells the story, Gov. Rod Blagojevich uttered extraordinary words.
Levine curried favor with Blagojevich and other bigwigs by ferrying them around the country on chartered planes. This trip had been to Manhattan to visit potential campaign contributors on Wall Street. Aboard the homeward bound plane, Levine thanked Blagojevich for reappointing him to the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, he testified at political fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko's trial Wednesday. At that moment, Levine said Blagojevich gave him both a warning and words that could only encourage the admittedly money hungry attorney who specialized in paying and collecting bribes.
